Purpose
The purpose of the United Federal Credit Union Scholarship program is to provide a means to recognize academic excellence and community support provided by our young members. Recognizing that these individuals hold the keys to our future, the leadership of the credit union has established this scholarship program to demonstrate their belief in the potential that is inherent in our young people. We believe that, just as we honor the legacy of our past, we also have a responsibility to invest in our future.
 

• Be an active member of United Federal Credit Union as evidenced by at least one year of membership and a savings and/or checking account in their name;
   
• Be a graduating high school senior;
   
• Demonstrate a commitment to community services;
   
• Be accepted as an incoming freshman at an accredited college, trade school or university.
   
• Achieve one of the following academic requirements:

1. A cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) or 3.5 (on a 5-point scale) 
2. An SAT score of at least 1511 
3. An ACT score of at least 21.2

• A completed application;
   
• A letter of recommendation from a teacher;
   
• Proof that you have met our academic requirements (see above) If applicable please provide official raised seal or signature transcripts.
   
• A 300 – 400 word, original typewritten essay.
  The essay topic: Discuss the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and describe how this philosophy has impacted your life. The essays will be scored on: meaningfulness/impact on the applicant’s life, originality, grammar, clarity of expression and composition.
