Investment Area Information

Investment Areas are geographic sections of various communities identified by specific census tracts. The federal government established census tracts as a means to effectively count and gather demographic data on citizens. In fact, our entire country is broken into census tracts, similar to postal zip codes. Nearly every community has Investment Areas and they can be scattered among census tracts within a specific community. Certain census tracts were designated as Investment Areas by the federal government as a result of several factors or combinations of conditions. Factors include incomes, economic situations, employment conditions and or existence of renaissance zones.

You are eligible to become a member of United Federal Credit Union if you or an immediate family member either lives, works, worships or attends school in one of our Investment Areas.

Click here to open the U.S. Census Bureau web site. Simply enter the address of your (or of an Immediate Family member) residence, place of work, place of worship or school and then click on Go. You will receive your Census Tract #. Reference your county and Census Tract # to the table below to determine if you are eligible to join.
